CD: Kujô-Shakujô

On the new solo CD Kujô-Shakujô Junko Ueda sings a repertoire from the 9th century Japanese traditional Tendai Buddhist Shomyo. Kujô-Shakujô is a rare recording where you can listen to the complete nine parts of the piece. Also, this CD includes the sutra text and its complete translations in English and Japanese. This CD is a most unique documentation of this tradition, which is succeeded until today without interruption. Includes:

CD & LP: PoiL Ueda

PoiL Ueda is the result of a collaboration between Junko Ueda and PoiL, a French progressive rock and contemporary music band. The compositions are based on the traditional epic singing accompanied by the satsuma-biwa and Buddhist shômyô chant. Through the collaboration of an ancient Japanese traditional music with a hyper modern European musical formation, this project offers the opportunity to discover a unique musical universe. The first album (CD and LP) is released in March 2023.
